Well here we are starting the 7 Songs festival for the 3rd time. Got off to a bit of a dodgy start yesterday as the first gig was cancelled. Poor Toumani Diabate has been taken ill with malaria and possible diabetes. Not good. Not good at all. Spent last night at Uppermill Civic Hall giving refunds and explanations. Everyone was really nice and understanding though.
Did an interview today with Karen Gabay at BBC GMR about when I promoted Gregory Isaacs in Oldham - what with the wonderful Cool Ruler checking out this week. Felt very sad and nostalgic. Had to admit on the radio that I found him a bit frightening on the night of the gig......more on that one later I think.
Off to Christies Cafe in Uppermill to look after a gig with the lovely folkies Twelfth Day.
